Manoj Kadam, a 45-year-old senior officer, is in police custody after being arrested by the Wakad Police in Pimpri-Chinchwad, Maharashtra. The arrest comes in response to a sexual assault complaint filed by a 21-year-old female security guard. The incident reportedly took place on September 10th at a recently opened mall. The official complaint was lodged on the late hours of September 11th. The accused, a resident of the Chikhali area, was taken into custody by the Detection Branch (DB) of the Wakad Police Station. The investigation revealed that the senior officer took the victim to the third floor of the mall, citing a meeting with an ‘important client.’ Once there, he allegedly propositioned her with promises of a promotion and higher salary, and then proceeded to make unwanted physical advances. The guard resisted and managed to leave. The victim, along with her husband and colleagues, reported the incident to the police. Kadam has been booked under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Sections 64, 68(A), and 68(c), and further investigation is underway.
