Authorities in Punjab have made a significant arrest, taking down four shooters affiliated with the Lawrence Bishnoi crime syndicate following a police encounter near Dera Bassi, Mohali. The confrontation took place on the highway, where the suspects, identified as operatives of gangster Goldy Dhillon, resisted arrest by firing at the police team. During the intense exchange, two of the assailants were wounded by police gunfire, with one requiring urgent medical attention. Law enforcement officials confirmed that police officers were shielded by bulletproof vests. This critical operation was spearheaded by encounter specialist Vikram Barad. The police recovered approximately a dozen advanced firearms, including seven .32 calibre pistols, along with 70 rounds of live ammunition. The arrested individuals were allegedly planning to carry out targeted attacks across the Tricity and Patiala districts. A key aspect of the ongoing investigation is the origin of the weapons, with suspicions raised about their transfer from Pakistan into India, potentially by drone, to supply the Bishnoi gang. This successful operation marks a crucial victory against cross-border criminal networks.
