
CP Radhakrishnan has been sworn in as India’s 15th Vice President in a ceremony led by President Droupadi Murmu at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. The ceremony saw participation from key figures such as Prime Minister Modi, Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, and former Vice Presidents. Radhakrishnan, who is 67, won the vice-presidential election with a significant lead. The NDA chose him as their candidate, as announced by BJP President JP Nadda. Prime Minister Narendra Modi acknowledged Radhakrishnan’s dedication and commitment to public service. Radhakrishnan conveyed his gratitude to the NDA leadership for selecting him. Before becoming Vice President, Radhakrishnan served as the Governor of Maharashtra and held additional responsibilities as Governor of Jharkhand and Telangana. He was also the BJP’s Tamil Nadu state president from 2004 to 2007. Radhakrishnan has a long-standing association with the RSS and Jan Sangh. He was elected to the Lok Sabha from the Coimbatore constituency in 1998 and 1999.
