
The 11th International Yoga Day was celebrated in an unprecedented manner at the Clock Tower in Lal Chowk, Srinagar, drawing thousands of participants from across Jammu and Kashmir. This marked a significant moment for the region, demonstrating yoga’s growing acceptance. The event saw enthusiastic participation from local residents and tourists. Celebrations were held across all districts, primarily attended by students, signifying an increase in yoga’s popularity and a move towards healthier lifestyles. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh joined the celebrations in Udhampur, highlighting yoga’s role in fostering peace. The BJP’s organization of the Lal Chowk event aimed to boost tourism and portray Kashmir as a peaceful destination. Participants, including students and tourists from Haryana, shared positive experiences, highlighting yoga’s benefits. The widespread adoption of yoga is attributed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative in 2014, promoting wellness and communal harmony.
