Pakistan has breathed new life into its Asia Cup 2025 campaign with a victory over Sri Lanka in the Super-4 round. The win, which saw Pakistan chasing down a target of 134 with five wickets to spare, puts them in second place in the points table, behind India. Sri Lanka, batting first, struggled to 133 all out, with Shaheen Shah Afridi and Hussain Talat leading the Pakistani bowling attack. Talat and Mohammad Nawaz then combined to steer Pakistan to victory with an unbroken partnership. Talat scored 32 not out, and Nawaz chipped in with a quick 38. Pakistan now has 2 points, the same as India and Bangladesh, but their net run rate places them in second position. Sri Lanka’s chances of reaching the final are now slim, with two losses in the Super-4 stage. They need Bangladesh to win both its remaining matches.
