The Asia Cup 2025 points table is beginning to take shape after four matches. Pakistan and Oman recently joined the competition after previous matches involving India, UAE, Afghanistan, Hong Kong, and Bangladesh. On September 12, Pakistan defeated Oman in Group A by a commanding 93-run margin. This win provided Pakistan with their first points of the tournament, though India maintained its position at the top of the table.
The match took place at Dubai International Stadium. Pakistan batted first, with a key contribution from Mohammad Haris, who scored a quickfire half-century of 66 runs off 43 balls. Pakistan scored 160 runs, losing 7 wickets. Aamir Kaleem took 3 wickets for Oman. Pakistan’s bowlers then performed strongly, dismissing Oman for just 67 runs, leading to a 93-run victory.
Pakistan’s win resulted in them gaining 2 points, though they remain behind India in the group standings due to India’s higher net run rate. India had previously defeated UAE in a match completed in just 27 balls, resulting in a net run rate of 10.483. Pakistan’s net run rate, despite their victory, is 4.650, lower than India’s. This places India first and Pakistan second in the standings, with Oman third and UAE last.
The next important match in Group A will be on September 14, with India playing against Pakistan. India securing a victory would lead to their progression to the next round. Pakistan can secure a spot in the next round by winning and finishing at the top of the group. In Group B, Afghanistan currently leads after beating Hong Kong. Bangladesh is in second place, having also defeated Hong Kong. Afghanistan’s superior net run rate of 4.700 is the key factor for their leadership, compared to Bangladesh’s 1.001.
