The Indian cricket team’s selection for the Asia Cup 2025, to be held in the UAE starting September 9th, is highly anticipated, with the announcement expected on August 19th or 20th. There are doubts surrounding the availability of India’s T20I captain, Suryakumar Yadav, potentially opening the captaincy role to Test captain Shubman Gill. While the team announcement is pending, several players are already putting in significant effort on the field. Sanju Samson is one such player, currently engaged in practice sessions with the Kerala Police. He shared his training activities on social media.
Sanju Samson, a wicketkeeper-batsman for India, has been away from the game since the conclusion of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. He is considered a strong contender for a spot in the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 squad. To prepare, he is undergoing intensive training alongside the Kerala Police. Samson posted photos of his training session with the police on his Instagram story, accompanied by the comment, “Training with Kerala Police… not easy”. His most recent international match was against England in February 2025.
Sanju Samson’s last international appearance was in February 2025. His last match was a T20I against England. During the five-match T20I series against England, Sanju Samson did not perform well, managing only 51 runs. However, his T20I record is noteworthy.
He has played 42 matches and has scored 861 runs in 38 innings with an average of 25.32, including three centuries and two half-centuries. He has also played 16 ODIs for India and has scored 510 runs in 14 innings with an average of 56.66, including a century and three half-centuries.
