After the Asia Cup 2025 final victory, Indian spinner Varun Chakaravarthy opted for a humorous way to celebrate. He shared a picture on X (formerly Twitter) of himself lounging in bed with a teacup, as well as an image of his teammates celebrating their win over Pakistan with an ‘imaginary trophy’. His tweet read: “Akkha duniya ek taraf, aur mere India ek taraf. Jai Hind.” This was a clear dig at Pakistan and ACC head Mohsin Naqvi, due to India not receiving the actual trophy following the disorderly post-match ceremony.
In addition, the entire Indian team seemed to mock Naqvi’s behavior, with some players casually looking at their phones while he stood awkwardly on the podium. Several players avoided collecting their individual awards or shaking hands with the ACC president. This led to Naqvi eventually leaving the stadium with the trophy. This wasn’t the first instance of Chakaravarthy using a teacup to poke fun at Pakistan. In 2025, following India’s Champions Trophy win against New Zealand, the Karnataka bowler shared a photo of himself drinking coffee with the trophy, with the caption: “A lot of distance was travelled to get a taste of this Cup.”
Pakistan’s three losses to India in the tournament and the ACC Chairman’s disgraceful action of removing India’s well-deserved trophy left the ACC Chairman’s reputation in tatters.
