The future of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the Indian ODI team is uncertain, despite their remarkable achievements in the sport. The two batsmen, who have dominated ODI cricket with their exceptional run-scoring abilities, are reportedly fighting for their place in the team. With retirements from T20 and Test cricket already announced, their ODI careers might also be nearing their conclusion, with the Australia tour being a potential farewell. There are indications that the team management is not planning for the 2027 World Cup with Kohli and Sharma, potentially leading to their retirement after the Australia series. Another option being considered is for them to prove their mettle in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. However, the BCCI is considering having the two players play three ODIs before the Australia series to help them regain their rhythm. The Australia series is scheduled from October 19th to 25th. The BCCI may also include them in the India A vs Australia A series, which will take place between September 30th and October 5th, as a way to regain their form before the main tour.
