The Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) is grappling with a ball-tampering scandal involving Indian spinner R Ashwin. The Madurai Panthers have filed a formal complaint, alleging that Ashwin and the Dindigul Dragons were involved in manipulating the ball during their TNPL match on June 14. The allegations include the use of chemically treated towels to alter the ball’s weight and the creation of a metallic sound when the ball was hit. The TNPL authorities are currently examining the evidence presented by the Madurai Panthers. According to Prasanna, the TNPL will establish an independent committee if the accusations hold merit. S Mahesh, COO of Madurai Panthers, detailed these serious charges in a letter sent to TNPL officials, citing repeated warnings.
