The schedule for the upcoming Big Bash League (BBL) Season 15 has been announced, with the opening match set to be between Sydney Sixers and Perth Scorchers on December 14, 2025, at Optus Stadium in Perth. The defending champions, Hobart Hurricanes, will face Sydney Thunder on December 16. The conclusion of the fifth Ashes Test on January 8 creates a potential two-week window, offering Australian Test players a chance to play in BBL-15. This contrasts with previous seasons where the January-February Test series often ruled out top players. The availability will be subject to recovery and Cricket Australia’s clearance. Alistair Dobson, Head of BBL Leagues, conveyed his optimism for the new season, emphasizing the advantages of a steady schedule from mid-December through January. The schedule modifications ensure that all teams have a home game in the regular season’s final week, increasing the likelihood of Test stars playing in the finals. While Nathan Lyon might debut for Melbourne Renegades, participation from players like Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc is uncertain, as they are currently uncontracted for the 2025–26 BBL season.
