Bumrah is out of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy due to injury to the lower back. This is the second time that Bumrah is out of a big ICC tournament due to injury. Earlier, he could not even play in the 2022 T20 World Cup and had to undergo surgery. After Bumrah’s bar, there have been 2 major changes in the Indian squad.
Harshit Rana gets a chance
The selection committee has included young fast bowler Harshit Rana in the team in place of Bumrah. Harshit made his debut in the first ODI against England and now he will be part of India’s fast bowling attack in the Champions Trophy. They have a good line length and speed.
Chakravarti in the team replacing Jaiswal
There has been another change in the team. Spinner Varun Chakraborty has been included in the team in place of Yashasvi Jaiswal. Jaiswal was part of the England series, but after a poor performance in the first match, he was dropped from the playing XI. Now Varun Chakraborty will strengthen India’s spin department.
Last team deadline
In fact, the ICC had given the time limit to all teams to submit their last 15 players by February 11. After this, approval will have to be obtained from the Technical Committee of ICC for any change. Therefore, the BCCI has announced the updated team on the night of 11 February. In which a total of 18 players have been given place, 3 of them are traveling subsidy.
