The Bombay High Court has ruled against the BCCI, compelling the cricket governing body to pay approximately ₹538 crores to Kochi Tuskers Kerala, a former IPL franchise. This ruling concludes a long-drawn legal battle initiated after the termination of the team’s IPL participation in 2011. The court dismissed the BCCI’s objections, stating that it could not re-evaluate the arbitral tribunal’s judgment. The franchise had been granted entry into the IPL in 2010 for a sum of ₹1550 crores, but their journey in the tournament was short-lived. The legal dispute focused on the alleged breach of contract by the BCCI, which led to the termination of the team.
