Reports are emerging that Mohammad Rizwan, a key player for Pakistan, has declined the central contract offered by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for the upcoming 2025-26 season. The reason cited is that Rizwan’s demands have not been met by the board, leading to his refusal to sign the agreement. While the PCB has reportedly rejected his stipulations, Rizwan is still set to participate in the ODI series against South Africa, with the squad already announced. This situation marks a significant development, especially since both Rizwan and Babar Azam, formerly in the highest category, have been reassigned to Category B. The PCB’s revised contract structure for this year does not include any Category A placements. The contract dispute comes after Rizwan was replaced as Pakistan’s ODI captain, adding to the speculation surrounding his role and relationship with the board. The outcome of these ongoing negotiations could significantly influence player-board dynamics moving forward.
