India has maintained its strong performance in the 2025 Asia Cup, achieving a fifth consecutive victory and securing a spot in the final after defeating Bangladesh by 41 runs in the Super-4 stage. Sri Lanka is out of the tournament. The upcoming match between Bangladesh and Pakistan on September 25 is essentially a must-win game, with the victor advancing to the final. However, ACC President Mohsin Naqvi has stirred controversy by posting a provocative image on social media, drawing criticism for its perceived negative implications towards India.
Naqvi, the ACC president and chairman of the PCB, posted a picture of Cristiano Ronaldo making a gesture as if he was flying a plane. This post has been interpreted as a move against India.
The action led to widespread criticism online. One fan wrote, “If ICC has any shame left, they should ban Pakistan cricket for 2 years. ACC Chairman Mohsin Naqvi openly mocked India by putting this pic intentionally, this is unacceptable.”
This controversy follows earlier incidents during the Super-4 matches, where Pakistani bowler Haris Rauf faced criticism for a gesture, prompting a response from Arshdeep Singh of Team India. India’s victory over Bangladesh has secured a spot in the Asia Cup final, which is slated for September 28. The final match could potentially see India playing against Bangladesh or Pakistan. The match between Pakistan and Bangladesh on September 25 will determine the second finalist, potentially setting the stage for a third India-Pakistan encounter in the tournament, although such a final has never occurred before.
