Arjun Tendulkar, the son of cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, is engaged to Saaniya Chandok, granddaughter of Mumbai businessman Ravi Iqbal Ghai. The engagement was a private event attended by close family and friends, a discreet celebration for both families.
Arjun, 25, is making a name for himself in cricket. He is a left-arm pacer and a useful lower-order batter. He currently plays for Goa in domestic cricket and is part of the Mumbai Indians team in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Arjun began his career with Mumbai in the 2020/21 season, later moving to Goa, where he made his first-class and List A debuts. He has played 17 first-class games, scoring 532 runs, including a century and two fifties, and taking 37 wickets. In the IPL, he has played five games, taking three wickets, with a best of 1/9.
Arjun will continue to play for Goa in the Ranji Trophy and upcoming domestic season, while also participating in the IPL with the Mumbai Indians.
Saaniya Chandok, whose background is less public, is the granddaughter of Ravi Iqbal Ghai, the head of Graviss Hospitality. The Ghai family is well-known in the hospitality and food industry. The Ghai legacy began with I.K. Ghai, founder of Kwality Ice Cream. Graviss Hospitality has expanded globally, with interests in the Middle East and other regions. They own the InterContinental hotel in Mumbai and the dessert brand Brooklyn Creamery.
Saaniya is a Director and Designated Partner of Mr. Paws Pet Spa & Store LLP, a Mumbai-based pet care start-up. She is also a veterinary technician, having completed a program under WVS.
The engagement has generated significant interest in both the cricket and business communities. The union of the Tendulkar and Ghai families marks a fusion of sport and hospitality. Arjun is concentrating on the upcoming cricket season, and Saaniya is focused on her career. The news brings happiness to the Tendulkar family’s supporters.
