As the India-England Test at Headingley concluded, both teams took a moment to honor the late Dilip Doshi. The players wore black armbands and observed a minute’s silence in respect for the former Indian spinner, who passed away in London on June 23, 2025, at the age of 77. The BCCI publicly acknowledged his passing on June 24. Doshi represented India in 33 Tests and 15 ODIs between 1979 and 1983, claiming 114 and 22 wickets, respectively. He was also a dominant force in domestic cricket, with 898 wickets in 238 matches. The use of black armbands was a recurring theme during the Test. Initially, on Day 1, the teams paid tribute to the victims of the Ahmedabad plane crash. Subsequently, on Day 3, they remembered David ‘Syd’ Lawrence. The Indian women’s team, also present in England, participated in a minute’s silence and wore black armbands in their warm-up game to commemorate Dilip Doshi’s life and career.
