
The West Delhi Lions triumphed over the South Delhi Superstarz in a high-scoring match of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The Lions’ victory was built on the foundation laid by the opening batsmen, Ankit Kumar and Krish Yadav, whose performance overwhelmed the South Delhi bowling attack. Having won the toss, South Delhi Superstarz chose to bat first, setting a target of 186 runs. The West Delhi Lions’ opening pair, Krish Yadav and Ankit Kumar, responded emphatically, compiling a stunning 158-run partnership in just 14 overs. Krish Yadav played a fine innings of 67 from 42 balls while Ankit Kumar was in devastating form, scoring 96 off 46 balls.
South Delhi Superstarz started strongly, with Kunwar Bidhuri (42 off 27) and Sumit Mathur (33 off 29) forming a solid 74-run partnership at the top of the order. Captain Ayush Badoni contributed a valuable 48 from 25 balls to keep the innings moving through the middle overs. Ultimately, the Superstarz managed to score 185/7 in their 20 overs.
The West Delhi bowlers regrouped in the concluding overs, preventing South Delhi from adding a substantial final flourish. Anirudh Chowdhary was the standout bowler, recording figures of 3/25 in his 4-over spell. Manan Bhardwaj contributed with 2/23, and Hrithik Shokeen took 1/16. The Lions’ bowling attack applied consistent pressure as the innings neared its close. The match concluded with the West Delhi Lions displaying a well-rounded performance, characterized by both effective bowling and dynamic batting. The Lions successfully chased down the required runs, reaching the target with 14 balls remaining.
