The Indian selection committee, led by Ajit Agarkar, has made a significant decision by retaining young pacer Harshit Rana in England after the India A match. Shubman Gill will lead the side. Rana made his international debut during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 in Australia as part of the A-Squad. The India A team recently played a warm-up match with the Indian Team.
It is reported that Rana will not be returning to India with the rest of the India A squad on June 17th and has been asked to stay back with the main squad. However, it is not yet confirmed if Rana has been officially added to the Gill-led squad or if he is on standby. This decision mirrors the need for backup bowlers, a strategy employed during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2020-21, which India won.
