Ishan Kishan, the Indian wicket-keeper batsman, is currently playing in the County Championship in England. Representing Nottinghamshire, he delivered a strong performance, scoring 87 runs in his first innings against Yorkshire. He reached this score in 98 balls, including 12 fours and a six. This is Kishan’s first time in the County Championship, and he has a two-match contract.
Kishan batted at number six, with Nottinghamshire at 225/4, later at 283/6. He formed a 71-run partnership with Liam Patterson-White. Kishan was dismissed at 87, caught by George Hill off the bowling of Dom Bess, while aiming for a century.
Kishan was omitted from the Indian Test team after December 2023. He is keen on a return but is behind Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel in the selectors’ preferences. He has played two Tests, scoring 78 runs. In first-class cricket, he has 58 matches with 3447 runs at an average of 37.87, with eight centuries and 17 half-centuries.
Kishan is also not in India’s ODI and T20 squads. Rituraj Gaikwad, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Tilak Verma are also in the County Championship, with Tilak Verma currently playing for Hampshire.
