
The traditional martial art of Gatka has achieved a significant milestone with its inclusion in the Pythian Cultural Games. International Gatka competitions are planned for next year in Moscow, announced by Bijender Goel, Chairman of the Pythian Council of India. The announcement was made at the 12th National Gatka Championship in New Delhi. Goel pledged his support to the World Gatka Federation, Asian Gatka Federation, and National Gatka Association of India (NGAI) for the growth of Gatka.
Shantanu Agrahari also spoke at the event, explaining the Pythian Games’ vision. Jarnail Singh, Delhi MLA, praised Gatka as a growing sport and self-defense method, encouraging young people to learn it. Dr. Tejinderpal Singh Nalwa, Harjeet Singh Grewal, and Sukhchain Singh Kalsani celebrated Gatka’s inclusion in the Pythian Games, highlighting its journey in various national sports competitions.
