Reflecting on India’s batting collapse against South Africa in the Guwahati Test, Washington Sundar emphasized the importance of maintaining a positive mindset. After conceding a massive first-innings lead, India struggled to score, falling for just 201. Sundar admitted the team’s execution fell short of their desires. “Obviously, execution didn’t go the way we wanted,” he said. He defended the attacking instincts of Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel, acknowledging that aggressive shots can either succeed or fail depending on the day. “On another day, both those shots would have gone into the stands,” Sundar observed. As the highest scorer with 48 from the number eight position, Sundar expressed his willingness to bat anywhere for the team. He also noted that no specific targets for scoring rate were set, as the primary objective was to play a disciplined Test innings and adapt as the game progressed.
