The much-anticipated bilateral series between the Indian and Bangladesh women’s cricket teams, originally planned for December, has been postponed indefinitely. The series, comprising six matches—three ODIs and three T20Is—will now be played at a yet-to-be-determined date. A Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) representative confirmed the development, noting that the BCCI has formally informed them about the postponement. While specific reasons have not been officially stated, it is widely understood that geopolitical factors and the current political climate between India and Bangladesh have played a significant role in this rescheduling. This tour was a crucial part of the ICC’s Future Tours Programme and served as India’s final preparation phase before the 2026 Women’s Premier League (WPL). It also represented the only bilateral series for the Indian team after their impressive showing in the ODI World Cup and before the WPL commences. The matches were slated to be held in Kolkata and Cuttack, with the ODIs marking the beginning of the new Women’s ODI Championship cycle for both teams. This situation mirrors the earlier postponement of the Indian men’s team’s tour to Bangladesh, which was rescheduled from August 2025 to September 2026 following discussions between the cricket boards. New dates for the women’s series will be communicated by the BCCI and BCB in due course.
