The Asia Cup 2025 is less than a month away, with the tournament scheduled to begin on September 9 and conclude on September 28. This year’s competition will be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the same location as in 2022. The format, mirroring the last edition, will be T20. All eyes are on the highly anticipated India vs. Pakistan matches.
The first India vs. Pakistan encounter in the Asia Cup is set for September 14. Both teams have been placed in Group A. Furthermore, a Super-4 round match is highly probable, contingent on no major surprises from UAE or Oman. If both teams finish in the top two of the Super-4, a final match is also possible.
Based on current form, India appears to have the advantage. They have demonstrated strong performances in the last year. Pakistan’s form has been more inconsistent. However, the venue for the matches plays a crucial role. All potential matches, including the group stage game, will be held at the Dubai International Stadium, where Pakistan holds a slight edge.
Historically, Pakistan has performed better in Dubai. Out of three T20 matches played between India and Pakistan at this stadium, Pakistan has won two, and India has won one. The 2021 T20 World Cup win was a historic moment for Pakistan. Following that, India did not reach the final in either the World Cup or the subsequent Asia Cup.
The UAE location might not favor India, given the T20 format. Despite this, the Indian team, under Suryakumar Yadav’s captaincy and Gautam Gambhir’s coaching, has shown strength. They have been victorious against various teams in the last year. India remains a strong contender for the title.
