The 4th Test between India and England ended in a draw, showcasing India’s determination to avoid defeat. With England leading the series 2-1, India still has an opportunity to level the series. Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar’s resilience saw them remaining unbeaten. India started their second innings poorly but recovered due to a strong performance from KL Rahul (90) and Shubman Gill (103). The England bowlers were under pressure due to the Indian batters’ resolute batting display.
Washington Sundar scored his first century (101) and Ravindra Jadeja’s (107) also contributed a brilliant century.
India had set a target of 358 in their first innings, with notable contributions from Yashasvi Jaiswal (58), KL Rahul (46), Sai Sudharsan (61), Rishabh Pant (54), and Shardul Thakur (41). A setback occurred on day one when Rishabh Pant was injured and was diagnosed with a toe fracture. However, Pant came back to bat on the second day and scored a half-century.
England, however, scored a total of 669 runs, taking a lead of 311 runs. India’s young team, with the help of KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja, fought back. The fifth Test is scheduled for July 31 at The Oval.
