A computer science engineer from India, Anandkumar Velkumar, has emerged as a world champion in speed skating. At the Speed Skating World Championship held in China, the 22-year-old athlete secured a gold medal in the 1000-meter sprint event. This remarkable accomplishment made him the first Indian to win gold in skating at the world championship level. Velkumar’s impressive performance, completed in a time of 1:24.924, has brought immense pride to India. His achievement also included a bronze medal in the 500-meter sprint, which was India’s first medal at the senior level. The victory highlighted India’s success in the 1000-meter sprint with Krish Sharma previously securing a gold medal in the junior category.
