The Union Cabinet, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the helm, has approved the proposal from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports for India to bid for the 2030 Commonwealth Games (CWG). Alongside this approval, the Cabinet has authorized the signing of the Host Collaboration Agreement (HCA) and the provision of required guarantees from involved ministries and departments. Furthermore, the Cabinet has sanctioned financial assistance to the Gujarat government contingent upon the success of India’s bid. Hosting the CWG is anticipated to involve athletes from 72 countries, drawing a large number of participants, coaches, officials, and media representatives, which in turn is expected to boost local economies and create job opportunities.
