The Indian Test team is undergoing significant changes after the retirements of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Former Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa has offered his perspective on the ideal playing XI for the upcoming England series, which begins June 20th. Uthappa has proposed a lineup featuring KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal as the opening pair.
Uthappa’s choices include Sai Sudharsan at No. 3, followed by Shubman Gill and Karun Nair at No. 4 and 5, respectively. Rishabh Pant is placed at No. 6, Nitish Kumar Reddy at No. 7, and Ravindra Jadeja at No. 8. The bowling attack would feature Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Prasidh Krishna.
Uthappa highlighted the importance of a strong start, backing KL Rahul at the top. “For me, I want to start stronger right at the top, and I would want KL Rahul to open there,” he commented. This team selection reflects a blend of experience and potential, balancing established players with emerging talent.
