India’s top order batsmen displayed excellent form in the first Test against England at Leeds, reaching 359/3. Captain Shubman Gill was the star performer, scoring a century. Gill and Rishabh Pant showcased an impressive partnership, scoring 127 and 65 respectively. Earlier in the match, Ben Stokes had sent off centurion Yashasvi Jaiswal soon after the final session resumed. India reached 92/2 by lunch, with Gill still at the crease with Yashasvi Jaiswal. The partnership of Jaiswal and KL Rahul added 91 runs in Headingley in the first session. England managed to gain some momentum by taking two wickets quickly.
