Inter Miami CF advanced to the Leagues Cup semifinals after defeating Tigres UANL 2-1 at Chase Stadium on Wednesday evening. This victory came without star player Lionel Messi, who was sidelined with a muscle injury. Luis Suárez proved instrumental, scoring twice, both goals coming from penalties. The first penalty was awarded after a handball by Tigres defender Javier Aquino. Miami also faced the setback of losing defender Jordi Alba to an injury. Head coach Javier Mascherano was sent off, leaving the touchline before the second half. Tigres equalized through Ángel Correa, but Suárez’s second penalty, following another handball from Tigres, sealed the win for Miami. Tigres nearly scored in the closing moments, but Miami maintained their advantage. The Herons will now play the winner of the Orlando City versus Toluca match in the next round.
