IPL 2025 Suspended: Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) has been stopped due to increasing military tension between India and Pakistan. The 58th match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals was canceled between 8 May amidst the stress of India-Pakistan border, after which the 18th season has now been suspended. Now the question is what will happen next? Whatever matches are left or not? Let’s know what BCCI can decide.
This is not the first time that there is a crisis on IPL. Earlier in 2021, the tournament was stopped after 29 matches due to Corona epidemic. The rest of that season was later held in Dubai in September and the BCCI completed the tournament in 2 parts. A similar situation has been created this time. There are still 16 matches left in IPL 2025, including the final match with the playoff matches.
Decision taken after review meeting
The BCCI is keeping an eye on the current situation. In the review meeting held on May 9, it has been decided to suspend this season. A BCCI official told PTI, “It is not good that cricket is going on when war is going on in the country.” He confirmed the suspension of the league, the league was to conclude on 25 May in Kolkata.
What will happen next?
Now the biggest question is what will happen next about IPL 2025? To understand this, you have to remember the previous season i.e. 2024. The IPL was played in 2 phases due to the Lok Sabha elections in IPL 2024. The first phase was from 22 March to 7 April, while the remaining matches and playoffs were held after the election. It is believed that when the situation between the two countries is normal, then a similar model can be adopted in 2025, but so far no official statement or update has come on it.
PSL and IPL getting together (ipl 2025 suspended)
This year, Pakistan Super League (PSL) and Indian Premier League are being organized at almost the same time. The PSL final will be played in Dubai on 18 May, while the IPL final is scheduled on 25 May. PSL has shifted to Dubai due to increased tension between the two countries, while the IPL has been postponed.
