Australian all-rounder Cameron Green has put an end to speculation regarding his bowling availability for the IPL 2026 season, confirming his fitness just days before the auction. Green revealed that a simple administrative oversight by his manager led to him being incorrectly registered as a batter, a situation he humorously described as a ‘stuff-up’.
Speaking to reporters in Adelaide, Green clarified the misunderstanding. “I’ll be good to bowl,” he affirmed. He elaborated on the mix-up, stating, “I don’t know if my manager would like to hear this, but there was a stuff-up on his end. He didn’t mean to say ‘batter’. I think he accidentally selected the wrong box.” The all-rounder found the entire situation rather funny.
Having undergone back surgery, Green missed the previous mega auction. He has since made a strong return to competitive cricket, initially as a batsman, but has now been fully cleared to bowl. His participation and bowling spells in the ongoing Ashes series serve as a testament to his complete recovery and readiness for the IPL.
Green has opted for the highest base price of ₹2 crore, setting the stage for an intense bidding war. Industry experts predict that his availability to bowl will significantly inflate his price, potentially reaching over 20 crores, despite a recent rule capping fees for players who missed the mega auction. Green expressed his keen interest in watching the auction unfold: “I’m sure I will be watching, with a few other guys. They’re always good fun to watch. It’s a bit of a lottery where you might go, but also who might be in your team, so it’s always been fun to watch.”
Green’s IPL career highlights include his 2023 stint with Mumbai Indians, where he scored 452 runs with a century, and his subsequent move to Royal Challengers Bengaluru, where he accumulated 255 runs and picked up 16 wickets. Kolkata Knight Riders are reportedly among the strong contenders for Green, especially following Andre Russell’s release. With a substantial purse of ₹64.30 crore, KKR is strategically positioned to make a significant bid for the Australian all-rounder.
