Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan has criticized Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan for their on-field celebrations during a recent match. India defeated Pakistan twice in the Asia Cup. Pathan expressed that instead of focusing on cricket, the Pakistani players seemed more interested in disruptive behavior.
The match had multiple heated moments. Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill were involved in exchanges with Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf. Sahibzada Farhan’s gesture, simulating shooting with his bat, and Haris Rauf’s gestures, mimicking a falling plane and a 6-0 score, were deemed inappropriate.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Pathan sharply responded and mentioned that Indian cricketers let their performance speak for themselves. He stated that the Indian team wouldn’t remain silent if provoked and would respond with their play.
Pathan pointed out that India doesn’t dwell on Pakistan’s losses, like the 2022 World Cup loss to Zimbabwe. He added that they don’t care much about Pakistan’s wins or losses.
He warned that any provocation would be met with a response. He referenced Farhan’s celebration, given the existing tensions between the two countries.
Pathan expressed disappointment in Haris Rauf’s behavior, stating that he thought highly of him based on their previous interactions. He concluded that the players’ actions reflected their background.
