The Adani International School in Ahmedabad successfully organized the ISSO National Games Chess Competition 2025, a two-day event that celebrated strategy, intelligence, and sportsmanship. The competition drew over 370 students from more than 80 schools across 10 Indian states. The event was attended by over 650 individuals, including parents, coaches, and supporters, fostering a vibrant atmosphere of competition and camaraderie.
The tournament featured four age categories: Under 11, Under 14, Under 17, and Under 19, giving players of all levels a chance to compete. Participants demonstrated impressive strategic skills and composure throughout the tournament.
Namrata Adani, a promoter of Adani International School, attended the opening ceremony and interacted with students. Also present were Bhavesh Patel, the former secretary of the Gujarat State Chess Association, and Grandmaster Ankit Rajpara, who encouraged the young players.
Indian chess is currently in a new phase on the global stage. The emergence of talents like R. Praggnanandhaa and D. Gukesh are challenging the world’s best, and India is establishing itself among the top chess nations. This success stems from the country’s robust school-level ecosystem, where events like the Adani International School tournament provide valuable experience to young players.
By fostering talent through such platforms, India is creating a system that prepares players for top-level competitions and ensuring the next generation of champions emerge from schools nationwide.
The event reinforced Adani International School’s commitment to integrating sports and intellectual growth. Medals were awarded in all categories. Chhatrbhuj Narsi School, Mumbai, was declared the overall champion, with Indus International School, Hyderabad, as the runner-up.
