England’s hopes are boosted by the potential comeback of Jofra Archer, who is included in the Sussex squad to play against Durham. This could pave the way for his return to the England Test team. Archer’s last game with Sussex was in May 2021. Archer has faced several injuries and operations. He has recently participated in limited-overs international cricket, including the Champions Trophy 2025. England selector Luke Wright mentioned that if Archer shows good performance in the Sussex match, he could be considered for selection against India in the second Test. India has dominated the first Test match, with Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Rishabh Pant scoring centuries in the first innings. Ben Stokes and Josh Tongue managed to take 4 wickets each for England. The potential inclusion of Archer in the second game would strengthen the England team significantly.
