The 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo saw a surprising result in the men’s javelin final, where Neeraj Chopra, the reigning world champion, finished in eighth place. Chopra’s best throw of 84.03 meters was well below his usual standards. Following the competition, Chopra explained that he was hampered by back pain, which limited his training. In contrast, Keshorn Walcott of Trinidad and Tobago secured the gold medal with a season-best throw of 88.16m. Anderson Peters and Curtis Thompson secured silver and bronze respectively. Sachin Yadav of India narrowly missed out on a medal, finishing fourth with a career-best performance, indicating a promising future for Indian javelin.
