A decade-old defamation case brought by MS Dhoni is now set to move forward. The Madras High Court has issued orders to begin hearings related to allegations concerning the IPL spot-fixing scandal. Dhoni is seeking ₹100 crore in damages from a group of defendants, including media organizations, a journalist, and retired IPS officer G. Sampath Kumar. The core of the case involves claims that these individuals implicated Dhoni in the IPL betting scandal. To facilitate the process, Justice C.V. Karthikeyan has appointed an advocate commissioner. The commissioner will be responsible for documenting Dhoni’s evidence in Chennai, at a location chosen for the convenience of all parties and legal representatives. This arrangement was made to accommodate Dhoni’s celebrity status. Dhoni has expressed his readiness to participate in the upcoming hearings.
