Following Rishabh Pant’s injury, wicket-keeper Narayan Jagadeesan has been called up to the Indian Test squad. Pant suffered a fractured toe during the fourth Test against England, necessitating his withdrawal. Jagadeesan, 29, from Tamil Nadu, has been a consistent performer in domestic cricket. He has played 52 first-class matches, accumulating 3373 runs at an average of 47.50, including 10 centuries and 14 half-centuries. His recent form in the Ranji Trophy saw him score 674 runs in eight matches, with an average of 56.16. He has also been part of the BCCI’s centre of excellence program. The fifth Test, starting on July 31 at The Oval, is a critical match for India, trailing England 2-1 in the series. Jagadeesan’s inclusion gives India a strong chance to level the series.
