Neeraj Chopra, the defending world champion and a two-time Olympic medalist, has secured his spot in the men’s javelin throw final at the World Championships. Chopra demonstrated his prowess by surpassing the automatic qualification mark of 84.50 meters with his opening attempt. His outstanding throw of 84.85 meters in Group A of the qualifiers earned him a place in the final.
Chopra set a high bar, being the first competitor to throw, and sealed his place in the final with his initial throw. He chose not to take any further attempts. As per the official competition rules, athletes who achieve or exceed the 84.50m standard, or are within the top 12 performers, qualify for the final round, set to take place on Thursday.
