Neeraj Chopra, the current world champion, demonstrated his prowess by qualifying for the final of the World Athletics Championships 2025 with a single, powerful throw. The men’s javelin throw qualification round took place on September 17th in Tokyo. Chopra, competing in Group A alongside fellow Indian athlete Sachin Yadav, immediately set the pace. His opening throw of 84.85 meters was more than sufficient to meet the 84.50-meter qualifying standard, thereby securing his place in the final scheduled for September 18th. Following his initial successful attempt, Chopra opted to conserve his energy, choosing to focus on the upcoming final without taking any further throws.
