Nick Kyrgios proved his mettle against Aryna Sabalenka, securing a comfortable straight-sets victory in their “Battle of the Sexes” exhibition tennis match in Dubai. The Australian star triumphed with a score of 6-3, 6-3 at the Coca-Cola Arena.
The exhibition, held on December 28, featured two of the sport’s most exciting players. Many anticipated a close contest, but Kyrgios took control early and maintained his advantage throughout the match. His consistent play was evident, including landing an ace, while Sabalenka was unable to convert any service winners of that kind.
Sabalenka, a decorated Grand Slam champion, battled hard against the Australian. However, she was unable to find the necessary breakthroughs to shift the momentum, ultimately falling in two sets. Following the match, Sabalenka shared her perspective on the exhibition, indicating her willingness to play Kyrgios again. She noted, “I made a lot of great shots. I really enjoyed the show. I feel like next time when I play him I know all his tactics and strengths.”
Kyrgios acknowledged the competitive nature of the match, paying tribute to Sabalenka’s fighting spirit. He stated, “It was a really tough match. She is a hell of a competitor.” He added that he had to dig deep, especially after Sabalenka managed to break his serve multiple times during their encounter.
