India’s seasoned all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has addressed his exclusion from the ODI squad selected for the upcoming three-match series against Australia, set to commence on October 19, 2025. Jadeja, instrumental in India’s Champions Trophy campaign, was not included in the 15-member squad, with the selectors opting for a spin combination of Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, and Kuldeep Yadav.
Speaking to the press following the second day of the ongoing Test against West Indies, Jadeja disclosed that the decision was communicated to him beforehand. He had engaged in conversations with chief selector Ajit Agarkar, head coach Gautam Gambhir, and ODI captain Shubman Gill, who outlined the strategic considerations behind the squad choices.
“My personal desire to play is always there, but ultimately, the team’s vision, as guided by the management, selectors, coach, and captain, is what matters,” Jadeja remarked. He added, “There’s a specific rationale behind this decision, and they made sure to discuss it with me. Hence, the news of my exclusion wasn’t unexpected. It’s highly commendable that the captain, selector, and coach were open about the reasons.”
Despite not being part of the ODI touring squad, Jadeja remains focused on delivering for India whenever given an opportunity. His ongoing contribution in the Test series, including taking wickets on day two, showcases his commitment and skill.
