The tri-series in the UAE witnessed Afghanistan exacting revenge on Pakistan following their previous encounter. In the series’ fourth match, Afghanistan emerged victorious against Pakistan by 18 runs. This win followed their earlier triumph over the UAE, marking their first success in the tournament. Afghanistan’s performance against Pakistan was impressive, with their spin attack proving challenging for Pakistani batsmen. The loss prompted widespread mockery of Pakistan on social media platforms.
Pakistan’s batting display against Afghanistan was disappointing, with Haris Rauf, a fast bowler, leading the scoring for Pakistan. This result generated much criticism online. A fan’s post referenced Shoaib Akhtar’s previous comments: “You must clearly remember what Shoaib Akhtar had said—he was absolutely right. This was the Sharjah pitch, but when they have to play on the Dubai pitch, remember, they won’t even be able to score 130.”
Another social media user labeled the team as a joke.
One cricket fan highlighted Haris Rauf’s performance, who, batting at number ten, recorded the highest strike rate for Pakistan at 212.50. It was noted that Babar Azam, Pakistan’s leading T20I run-scorer, had not achieved a similar feat in his career.
Fans voiced strong criticism of the team, with one user stating: “We kept saying again and again that on these pitches, these waste players won’t be effective—the team needs Babar Azam. But they didn’t care, and today Afghanistan easily defeated Pakistan and proved that all these players are just waste material.”
Another user pointed out that Pakistan’s defeat was due to their mistakes, enabling Afghanistan to consistently regain momentum throughout both innings.
In the match, Afghanistan, batting first, scored 169 runs for five wickets in their 20 overs. Pakistan, in response, could only manage 151 runs for nine wickets in 20 overs, resulting in an 18-run loss.
