Pakistan’s hopes of continuing their successful run against the West Indies in the ODI format were dashed due to a batting collapse in the series decider. The performance of key batsmen Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan was particularly disappointing, as they failed to deliver when the team needed them the most. West Indies bowler Jayden Seales was the standout performer, taking 10 wickets in the series.
The crucial match saw Seales dominate with the ball, dismantling the Pakistani batting lineup. He started by dismissing both openers, Sam Ayub and Abdullah Shafique, for a duck. This was the first time in 15 years that both Pakistani openers were out for zero in an ODI. Captain Mohammad Rizwan also failed to score, and even though Babar Azam showed some fight by scoring 23 runs, Seales dismissed him as well.
Seales’ remarkable performance in the final match included figures of 6 wickets for 18 runs in 7.2 overs, his best career performance. Across the three-match series, Seales took a total of 10 wickets.
Pakistan’s loss in the series meant they missed the opportunity to extend their unbeaten streak against West Indies, which had lasted since 1991. The inability of experienced players like Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan to perform in a critical match proved costly for Pakistan, leading to their defeat.
