Wasim Akram, a YouTuber from Palwal, has been detained by the Haryana Police on charges of spying for Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and the Pakistan High Commission. Akram, who resides in Kot village, Palwal, ran a YouTube channel featuring content related to the history of Mewat. He was arrested on Wednesday. Police investigations show that Akram had been in communication with Pakistani agents for the last three years, allegedly providing them with SIM cards. Authorities recovered multiple incriminating WhatsApp messages, including deleted ones, from his phone; the cyber cell is attempting to recover the deleted messages. The arrest of Akram was connected to information provided by Taufiq, another individual arrested by the Palwal police last week. The inquiry into Akram’s activities revealed cross-border connections, specifically when he applied for a visa to Islamabad back in 2021.
