Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant has achieved his highest-ever ranking in Test cricket, reaching the 7th position among batsmen in the latest ICC rankings. This achievement comes on the back of his remarkable performance at Leeds, where he scored two centuries (134 and 118). Despite his outstanding batting display, India lost the match to England.
Pant’s exceptional form has boosted his rating to 801 points, moving him ahead of Ben Duckett. He now holds the distinction of being the highest-ranked wicketkeeper-batter in the world. Furthermore, Pant is only the second wicketkeeper-batsman in Test history to score centuries in both innings of a match, a feat previously achieved by Andy Flower. Pant has also surpassed MS Dhoni’s record for most Test centuries by an Indian wicketkeeper.
With key players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli retired, Pant’s role in the Indian Test team is of utmost importance. This rise marks a significant comeback after his recovery from a car accident in 2022, underscoring his dedication and hard work. The top 10 Test rankings are: 1. Joe Root, 2. Harry Brook, 3. Kane Williamson, 4. Yashasvi Jaiswal, 5. Steve Smith, 6. Temba Bavuma, 7. Rishabh Pant, 8. Ben Duckett, 9. Kamindu Mendis, and 10. Saud Shakeel.
