
Shah Rukh Khan’s Trinbago Knight Riders defeated the Barbados Royals by 7 wickets in the 2025 Caribbean Premier League (CPL), thanks to stellar performances from Nicholas Pooran and Colin Munro. Their aggressive batting dismantled the opposition’s bowlers, culminating in a hat-trick of wins for the Knight Riders, placing them at the top of the points table.
The Barbados Royals set a target of 178 runs in the 16th match, losing 6 wickets in 20 overs. Sherfane Rutherford contributed 45 runs, Kadeem Alleyne scored 41, and captain Rovman Powell added 31. For the Knight Riders, Mohammad Amir took two wickets, and Andre Russell claimed three.
The Knight Riders lost two early wickets but quickly recovered. Captain Nicholas Pooran played a match-winning, unbeaten innings of 65 runs off 40 balls, featuring a four and six sixes. Pooran, who had not had a significant score in previous matches, formed a crucial partnership with Colin Munro.
Pooran’s half-century was achieved in 30 balls, his 14th in CPL. He has scored 145 runs in five matches this season, averaging 48.33. His performance was key in the Knight Riders’ hat-trick. Colin Munro also delivered a strong performance, scoring 67 runs from 44 balls, including 4 fours and 4 sixes.
Munro is currently the season’s leading run-scorer, with 283 runs in five matches, averaging 56.60. He previously scored a match-winning 120 runs against the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. The victory over the Barbados Royals helped the Knight Riders secure their hat-trick.
In the CPL 2025 points standings, the Trinbago Knight Riders now lead with 4 wins from 5 matches. They secured previous victories against the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons and St Lucia Kings before their triumph over the Barbados Royals.
