Cricket fans will have to wait longer for Rishabh Pant’s return to the Indian team. Following an injury update, it has been revealed that the wicketkeeper-batsman will miss a total of ten matches. The injury, a leg fracture sustained during the Test series against England, initially carried a recovery timeline of three to four weeks. There were expectations that Pant would be fit to play in the Test series against the West Indies. However, the latest information confirms that he will not participate in two Test matches against the West Indies and the subsequent eight matches in Australia, consisting of five T20Is and three ODIs.
The reason behind Pant’s absence from these matches is his incomplete recovery. Reports indicate that he is not yet 100% fit. This has led to his exclusion from selection for both the West Indies and Australia series. India is set to play the West Indies in two Test matches from October 2nd to October 14th. The Australia series begins on October 19th and concludes on November 8th. The reports suggest that Pant’s participation in these matches is uncertain, and there is no specific date when he will be fit enough to return to the team.
It has been reported that Pant’s return to the field could be during the home series against South Africa, which is scheduled to begin in November. The Test series against South Africa will begin on November 14th. The first match is at Eden Gardens, and the second test will be held in Guwahati on November 22nd. Additionally, three ODIs and five T20Is will follow the Tests. The ODIs will be played between November 30th and December 6th, and the T20Is are scheduled from December 9th to December 19th.
