The World Athletics Championships 2025 saw a new javelin star emerge for India. Sachin Yadav delivered a noteworthy performance in Tokyo, capturing attention. While the event was highly anticipated for the clash between Neeraj Chopra and Arshad Nadeem, Yadav’s presence was undeniable. He achieved fourth place, surpassing Neeraj Chopra, despite not reaching the podium. The 25-year-old athlete achieved a personal best of 86.27m during his initial throw. Born in Khekra, Uttar Pradesh, on October 25, 1999, Yadav initially aimed for a career in cricket as a fast bowler but transitioned to javelin at 19. His height of 6 feet 5 inches provides a physical advantage. He draws inspiration from Jasprit Bumrah and MS Dhoni. Yadav’s accomplishments include a silver medal at the Asian Championships and a gold medal at the 38th National Games in Dehradun, setting a record with a throw of 84.39m. He competed in the Neeraj Chopra Classic, finishing fourth with a throw of 82.33m. Following the competition, Neeraj Chopra, who finished in eighth place, expressed his congratulations to Yadav and his confidence in the future of Indian javelin.
