The IPL 2026 trade window is open, yet significant player movements remain absent, with the exception of persistent rumors connecting Chennai Super Kings (CSK) with Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson. It’s been suggested that CSK may have made an offer, however, the proposal did not meet the expectations of the Royals’ management. The franchise is reportedly unwilling to trade any of its core players, contradicting rumors about potential trades involving players such as Shivam Dube and Ravichandran Ashwin. The auction in IPL 2026 is likely the most viable path if CSK is serious about acquiring Samson. His acquisition cost could easily surpass 20 crore, given the 18 crore that Rajasthan retained him for in the 2025 season. Simultaneously, skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad and MS Dhoni are in Chennai, discussing the team’s future plans. Despite the team’s performance in the 2025 season, CSK seems inclined to support its existing squad, having recently undertaken a significant team restructuring at the previous auction.
